Bamboo Sprouts

I needed to work a big rocking chair into the living room so a little rearranging was in order this last weekend.  I have had the living room pretty much  like this for five years now with the couch set back in that little window area that bumps out and I couldn’t see another way until I HAD to!

Before:

After:

This is the chair that inspired the change.  I ordered this chair before we traveled to China for Sophie and it arrived while we were there meeting and adopting her.  Endless hours spent rocking babies in this chair!  It got squished out of our bedroom recently and it was time to make room for it elsewhere.

Tada.

While kiddos were at their Grandparents this weekend, we gave their rooms little mini-makeovers!  Can’t wait for the big reveal in a couple of hours.  :)

Levi’s room:

Used to be Spidey Man and is now Star Wars.  Still looking for a lamp and a few more accessories!  But he got new sheets, a Yoda guy, and pictures for his walls.

These three Star Wars prints used to hang in Rick’s bedroom when he was a kiddo!  Recently found and given to him, we framed them up and those were the inspiration for changing up his room a bit.

Bella’s room:

Used to be flowers and more lime green but I found this horse painting when on a little trip a couple months ago and that became the inspiration for her room.

Other side of her room with her books and her huge h0rse.

This is the sign on her door.  Truth about Bella Boo!

Sophie’s room:

Sophie’s room used to be corals, pinks and tan and kind of more grown up looking.  I thought I would little girl hers up a bit so she now has pinks (her favorite) and white and lots of crowns and carriages and such.

She is a clutter bug girl and you know what?  It is what it is!  :)

I hope they like them!

Sophie resides here.  Unlike Levi who keeps his room immaculate, I had to spend almost a whole day working on Sophie’s room to make it photo decent.  She is a stasher and her room was plain ole gross.  I cleared out two pieces of furniture (and can’t see how on earth they fit in there anyhow!) and a BUNCH of…junk…and now plan to keep on her to keep it decent.  Gross is out, neat and clean is IN.

I respect each kiddos personalities and need for something a little different, so I did not make Sophie’s room as sparse as Levi’s is.  Levi does best with almost nothing in his room.  Sophie likes STUFF around her.  So I kept plenty o stuff, just made it more liveable.

Sophie’s room used to be our guest room and one day she asked if she could just move her “panties and jammies” to the guest room because at that time she shared a room with Isabella and she said she really just needed some “peace and quiet”.  It made perfect sense to me because I know good and well that Isabella hops around, sings songs and talks for hours on end so I said sure but if you are moving your panties and jammies in, we may as well paint the room and move you on in.  So we did.  She does share her room with her dog Charlie.  :)

Her room is filled with love.  I made the bedding and curtains, Rick made the crown for her nursery when she was a baby and friends made the “Sophie” letters.  Oh and I found the bedroom set at a thrift store years ago and stripped off layers and layers of paint with the help of my Dad!

Its a little room, but its filled with peace and quiet…and lots and lots o little junk that six and a half year old girls love.  :)

Levi is the only one, parents included sometimes, who keeps his room almost immaculate around here!  So here it is.

I have toned down the Spider Man, but it’s still there.  :)

And there you have it.  A very blue room for the Spidey loving boy.

Hey thanks for coming on back this week!  I had planned to do all of our bedrooms, but you know, it’s a lot of work to have five bedrooms camera ready!  So, just the master this week, and then the four others next week.  :)

This room was kind of an accident.  Or a series of accidents even.  I had some living room paint and started painting and then needed more of course and the ceiling is really high on one side and it may now be gold forever.  Or until I hire a painter.  ;)   I have only stood on a ladder that tall one other time, and it isnt part of my plan to do that again.  And then that rocking chair was the chair I rocked babies in and it is the prettiest but oddest color.  Well not oddest…but it is very wine and it turns out that can be tricky to work with.  It isnt brick red, isnt true red, isnt maroon…Anyhow.  Then, I bought that rug to go in the living room and eventually found something I liked WAY better in there but couldnt justify getting rid of this rug and woohoo, it worked with the chair.  And then the lamps were bogo at Hob*y Lob*y and matched the first comforter perfectly but of course the kiddos did that comforter right in…along with two more after that.  Yep.  See the bed sits up high and they grab on and pull themselves on up which ruins comforters it turns out.  I recently found this comforter for a whopping $17 at Ross (LOL) and it has nothing for them to grab onto (like piping) and no threads for them to “pick” at.  Besides, for $17, who cares if I only get a few months out of it although so far, its looking good that it will last longer.  Good grief.  The joys of having 3 little peeps!  lol

I love the fireplace and the french doors even though they take much room from the teensy tiny master closet there between them.

That door is to the master bath.  Isnt that a novel idea?  A DOOR on it.  What is up with all the new houses with no door to the bathroom?  How on earth can a girl get peace and quiet while she soaks in her bubbles without a DOOR?   Even WITH a door, my kids often come talk to me through the crack under the door or even slip me notes and drawings under the door.  LOL

The fix and flipper peeps who sold us this house were really specialists in tile and stone work and we love what they did in this bathroom especially.

Oh looky.  Dino had to go in time out MONTHS ago on top of the armoire and would you believe I didnt notice him until I was taking photos today!  LOL  Guess dino can come out of time out today.  He clearly needs a little bath to wash off his layers of dust!

Thanks for stopping by.

Next up is kiddo and guest bedrooms.  :)
