Bamboo Sprouts

Scrappin

Well I usually manage to complete 60-something pages on a retreat but this time only managed to complete 43.  Still a productive weekend though!  When we arrived up to the beautiful Rocky Mountain location on Friday afternoon, it was 70 degrees.  No kidding.  But when we woke up on Sunday morning and peeked out the window of our cozy cabin, it looked like a blizzard.  No kidding.  My mom retreated with me this weekend and when she saw that, she flew over to my sleeping self and pretty much said time to GO.  So we left about 6 hours early but I am so glad we did since we drove home in white out blizzard conditions.  Not much had accumulated yet though so it could have been worse.  I think the news last night said they ended up getting over a foot up there.  It was so weird though because as soon as we were at the base of the mountain, the blizzard conditions were over.  Like night and day.  We got our fair share later on though and ended up with 7+ at our house.

There are a bunch of little cabins on a circle layout with the cafeteria (where we crop) at the base of the circle.

This is the cabin my mom and I stayed in this weekend.  There are bunk beds meant for 11 year olds inside.  LOL  But there are enough cabins that we never have to use the top bunks so it isnt too bad.  :)

This is where we all work on our albums together.  And eat a lot of snacks.  And chat with each other.  Girl stuff.

Here is my mom cropping.  :)   Thanks for retreating with me this weekend Mom!

When I was leaving it was so funny because the kiddos were worried about everything from what I would eat to where I would sleep to if there was a potty there.  LOL

So here is where we eat.  They have a cook who comes and makes us yummy meals and even home made bread.  :)   And all us croppers bring a snack of some sort to share and we graze all weekend.  Eating and cropping seem to go hand in hand.

And here is a little proof that I got some work done.  :)   I usually work like a maniac at these retreats because I am trying to get all my scrapbooking done in 2 weekend retreats a year.  I do a book for each child (will end up being many books for each child obviously) and my goal is to also do a family album that we will be left with once they take their own books when they are grown.  I havent actually started the family book though!  Scary.  I recently did some digital books and that may have to do for family books.

If you are a Creative Memories fan, let me highly recommend the paisley punch tool!  I LOVE mine as you can see.  LOL  It was our free gift for coming to the previous retreat last October but its worth spending $20 on.  :)

Also, I do a lot of journaling on some pages and often journal a whole page or so about an event, but these pages are more photo-shoot type pages rather than events so there just isnt much to say.  :)

Oh and here is what we woke up to on Sunday:

Next one is in October…anyone want to join us?  :)

    Tiffany,
Your scrapbook pages are beautiful! I LOVE the ‘cowboy’ pics — too cute! The paisley punch is fantastic, I saw that and immediately thought “I have to email her and find out where she got it!”, then I read the rest of your post and got my answer. My Creative Memories consultant lives about a mile from me, but I haven’t ordered anything from her in ages…guess I’d better call her up!!! I think you’ve inspired me to pull out my pictures and get busy ( I haven’t done any pages since last Aug., ugh.)
Jake lost his first tooth Saturday (very sad day for his mama :-( , my baby boy is growing up too quickly.), so I thought then that I needed to go shopping for the “perfect paper” for those pages. I wasn’t ready for this event so soon, he just turned 5 in Nov. Anyway, love your pages — sounds like a fun weekend until the surprise snow!

    Your little pumpkin’s are precious.

  3. I love scrapbooking too, but haven’t had time to sit down and tackle it lately. Your pages look great!

  4. 43? Holy moly. I USED to scrap. Used to. Seems kinda dangerous lately (lately meaning since Isabelle came home almost 3 years ago!)
Well done, I am sure it feels great to have all those pages DONE! :)

  5. love the Paisley punch…but I have no idea about scrapping….I think I’d try digital first!

  6. Great pages!! Brava to you for making the effort to get the job DONE!! I haven’t scrapped since completing Kiara’s toddler lifebook last Christmas…2006 that is! YIKES!! I got me some catchin’ up to do! How fun to go with your mom! Glad you got home safe & sound!

  7. Oh man I am soo jealous! I soo need a weekend away to scrap! I am still on 2005 for heaven’s sake! At this rate we will be moved back to Colorado before I ever scrap Arizona! LOL And no, we aren’t moving yet but DH did apply for a few jobs out there so I am hoping one of them calls!

  8. Tif, your pages are GORGEOUS! I like the simplicity. My favorite are the cowboy hat pages of Levi.

  9. Sooo much fun it looks like you both had!! What memories and not just the pics! Your pages are beautiful and especially love the ones w/ the tall black flowers on either side! Actually LOVE them all!
Will you do mine next year? lol.

  10. 43 pages. WOW!!!!!!

  11. Sounds like you had a great time! I am so impressed. I gave up scrapbooking about 4 years ago and went back to just shoving photos into albums. But it looks like I need to get back into it. I love that you are writing them for the kiddoes! What lovely memories these will be for all of them!

Great job scrapbooking! I love the cowboy hat pics of Levi. Your family will treasure all of your efforts for years. I haven’t touched mine since before we got Abigail in 2005 and left off in 2001. :(

  13. Oh wow!!! Your pages are gorgeous! I am addicted to digital scrapbooking now! But it’s not quite the same. I like the visual effect that punch outs and embellishments have on a page.
    43 pages….very very impressive!!!
