Organized
Well I made it in the NICK of time! Nothing like waiting until the night before the end of the challenge to finish up. But the point is, I can do CRAFTS in my craft room!
To view my orginal post about this challenge, see THIS. But here are the before photos of my craft room/office area again!
BEFORE:

From the doorway. You could barely squeeze into the room and it certainly wasn’t actually usable.

And now for the AFTER photos!!!!! WOOHOO.

The above 2 pix are taken from basically the same places as the before pix. Now on to some more detailed photos.

This is what I am facing when I sit in the office chair. The shelves on the left hold sewing patterns in tbe boxes, craft books on the next shelf up, laminator system in the basket on the next shelf and some other misc crafty stuff like crochet hooks above. The middle cabinet I will show the insides of in the next photo. The shelf on the right holds rubber stamps on the top shelf, sewing notions on the next one and sewing machines on the next.

The inside of the middle cupboard thingy holds mostly kids crafts and I found that containerizing them inside the cupboard makes all the difference. Before, things were just tossed in there and it got messy and I could never find what we needed. Now if they want to do playdough, I pull out that bin. Paints are in another. And so on. I also have some card making supplies in this cupboard.

The little shelf next to the bigger ones holds our photo printer, current files, printer papers and electronics chargers. I also love having the tv in my craft room.
My plan was to have nothing on top of the shelves but I ended up with 3 of my childhood dolls up there for display and the red bin has beading supplies in it. Not that I do beading. But apparently I once thought I might and spent enough on supplies that I am still holding out hope.

This is the shelf behind my desk so it’s super handy. It holds my scrapbooking supplies. The black thingy on the floor is the paper shredder.

There is also a tiny closet in this room. I turned it into a gift wrap/correspondance area. All the bins are drawer style so I can easily access the items. Top bins are cards (and a gift ready to go-LOL) and next is gift wrap accessories. Gift wrap paper and gift bags are on hte floor next to the bins. The bottom bins are photo bins and hold ALL of our extra photos, negatives and CD’s of photos that are not in scrapbooks.

This is a little decorative area with pix of me as a kid and the old window pane filled with current pix of our kiddos.

And a little basket on top of my desk with some fabrics to inspire me to create some cute kiddie clothes.

Under the desk are some more containers with sewing notions, my snap press and supplies and that sort of thing. I also have a small bin with more Christmas gifts to wrap and a few frames awaiting photos that are currently ordered and will be picked up this weekend. I am just thrilled to know WHAT is where.
Thanks for touring my new and improved space.
By the way, I spent $0 on this make-over. Just lots and lots of elbow grease. Or something like that.
I had everything I needed to put my craft supplies in containers and better organize the space.
Participants have been asked to answer the following questions.
1. What was the hardest part of the challenge for you and were you able to overcome it? Just DOING it. I kept thinking I had plenty of time but turned out it was a short month.
Once I got going, it wasn’t so awful but finding time to work on it was tough. I ended up having to work late into the nights to get it done since my three peanuts don’t care whether mommy has a clean office or not. LOL
2. Tell us what kind of changes/habits you have put into place in order for your area/room to maintain its new order? Well since I JUST finished it I haven’t had a chance to muss it up yet. But I tried to organize the room into zones so that at least things can be easily put back in the right area if not in the right place. I also allowed for some empty spaces so that I have room to grow a bit.
3. What did you do with the “stuff” you were able to purge out of your newly organized space? Donated, trashed and moved to other parts of the house (where they belonged!). This room had become the dumping ground. I was saving stuff to sell on ebay, etc and in the end decided it’s better to have it GONE than make a few dollars if that meant holding on to it one more day. I also had been stashing holiday gifts in there and this made me get them wrapped and under the tree!
4. Now that you have completed the challenge, do you think having and keeping your space organized will make a difference in your life? I already feel a weight lifted off of me. I feel like I have time to do other things. Even though I didnt WORK on the space much before the challenge, I spent too much time THINKING that I SHOULD work on it. I also look forward to USING the space! I am excited to have space to sew and scrapbook again!
6. Why do you think you should win the challenge? Oh goodness. I am sure there are many more deserving and I guess I mostly think I have already won since I have gained a whole new room of my house back.
But prizes are fun too. LOL

Hurrah For Elbow Grease!
I’ve done transformations like this before myself and know you just have to get in the groove and go!
We’re moving most of the furniture in the house around, so I should take before & after of that I suppose just to see how much we actually accomplish. You’ve inspired me.

I am a prof. organizer and love the way you have set up your room for what you love to do. Organizing scrapbooking/card making materials can be very difficult if you are not a scrapbooker (like I am). Keep it up and in no time it will become habit to put things back… don’t worry, I still fight the urge to leave the page layout out so you can work on it ‘tomorrow’ (which never seems to come…). Great Job!

Your room looks great. It’s going to be so nice for you to work on projects on that nice big desk. I love all of your storage shelves and the cabinet. What a nice space. I also really like that you made the small closet into the gift wrapping area. That was a great idea. You did a great job on the room.
