Sophie Likes Muscles

Ok so try not to judge me here because we are usually quite careful about what the kids watch but to be honest, Americ*n Id*l (which is mostly fine anyhow)and Danc*ng with the St*rs (which can be pretty iffy!) are tough ones! So they often watch Id*l and sometimes watch Danc*ng with the St*rs. Not faithfully, but here and there, yes they do. This has lead to some interesting and sometimes funny conversations about appropriate attire, language and behavior. Sometimes the costumes really bug them and they totally judge the dancers based on how much fabric their dress has. They like the sparkly, fluffy, long dresses the best and of course that makes for the best dancers. 
They understand some costume stuff though because of their participation in ballet and for example they are appalled that they can’t wear panties for ballet performances because ballerinas don’t do that because they would show. But anyhow, this year there are some pretty hunky manly peeps on Dancing and what cracks me up is that it did not get past Sophie! So one night pretty early on in the season, she was watching one of these hunky men and she said Mommy do muscles make a boy more “handsomer”? LOLOLOLOL. I know, kind of inappropriate for a nine year old, but it made me laugh so much because obviously she was seeing that indeed, muscles are pretty handsome. (By the way, I answered the question by tossing it back at her so she could decide for herself) Then she said Levi do you hope you have big muscles when you are a grown up? And he said YES! I hope I have really big muscles!! (as if it just happens or doesn’t and is beyond your control) Sophie was also really taken with Colton on AI this year and said she thinks she could like a boy like that someday! Sheesh, isn’t it a little early for all this??
Sometimes my kiddos keep me more entertained than any show could.

I agree with Sophie, guys with muscles (like her daddy) are definitely more handsomer. I made Abby take her panties off for her ballet recital, too and she was absolutely mortified! Sometimes we watch DWTS, but it comes on kinda late on the east coast so we can’t watch all of it, but she’s ALL about the dresses. So far she hasn’t paid any attention to the men, but maybe I’ll have to ask what she thinks

hahahaha…that’s awesome. I let Avi OCCASIONALLY watch DW*TS too. Though the other night our Daddy said, “Turn it off, their outfits are inappropriate!” lol
