Bamboo Sprouts

Slacker Blogger and Update

So I did not catch reactions to rooms on camera.  :(   The rooms are all over the house and in the end, we picked them up from their big weekend and opened the door and let them race to their rooms to see their big surprises.  They didn’t know we were redoing rooms, they just knew they each had a surprise in their rooms.

Sophie was sooo pleased and overly grateful.  She loves the pink, little girlyness of hers.  She struggles with change a bit and has “missed” her old set though.  LOL  She makes me laugh.  These new curtains are thinner than the homemade ones I had up before and she wants the room darker so I will line them when I get a sec.

Levi liked his new “sheeps” and the stuffed Yoda.  :)   We like the artwork that used to be Daddies the best, but for a kiddo, I spose his likes make the most sense.  :)   All in all though, Levi is a boy and moved on to bigger things after checking out the sheets and Yoda.  lol  I did hear him tell each of the girls how beautiful their rooms were.  I always find that charming as he also tells them when they look beautiful in a new dress or whatever.  I think it’s so cute that although new clothes and a redecorated room don’t mean much to him, he sees that it does to them and he indulges them with compliments.

Bella was her pleased as punch self.  Her bed did not have a proper box spring on it and we took care of that so now her bed is high and princessy (actually it is just normal!).  She immediately wanted to change out of her fancy churchy clothes from visiting GG and Grpa and put on comfies and get IN the bed to try it out.  She went around the room and touched even the little details that we had added, noticing everything.

It was all very fun and so cute and I felt well thanked by their reactions.

Our big New Years Eve event was Levi landing in the ER for a cut open noggin after bonking it on the couch in the playroom!  It was our first ER visit so big news around here.  A popsicle and a few staples later, they had him all fixed up.  He was all tough about it the whole time saying he was feeling “fine”.

Other than that, well we are back at regular routine.  Lots of school work happening and they are super entertained by their new Christmas toys!  I am thrilled with this and think I hadn’t realized how much they needed a few new things, more age appropriate and just different.  So while at one point I was disappointed that we went a bit overboard for Christmas, in the end, I think it was needed and worth it.  I may try to update their things more often this year though!

As for me slacking off with blogging.  Well, I might have some excuses.  None of them brilliant.  :)   I am of course always in “mommy mode” but also feel complicated as a person these days.  I am craving some things that I used to take time for (artistic, decorating, etc).  I feel messy a bit and I guess this being more of a mommy blog, and me not usually putting much beyond that out there in this space, I have avoided blogging lately.  Part of me would like to avoid it longer (!) and another part of me knows that it is a good thing for me to do.  I am more engaged, take more photos, etc when I am blogging.  :)

Hope all is well with your and yours in this new year.  This new DECADE.  How crazy that is because it sure seems like it was JUST 2000 and now here we are in 2010.  I can’t understand where the time goes!

  1. The rooms look fantastic! I just haven’t gotten that ambitious regarding decorating, but you have done an amazing job. That gash on Levi’s head looks scary. I am so glad that went smoothly.

I am so far behind on blogging. Hopefully, I will be motivated to get back on the wagon this weekend. There’s a lot going on in our lives and I just don’t know how to put it into words.

  2. OUCH!!!! That made my gut tingle!!! LOL

I know for a while too I was just not into blogging, as there was nothing notable going on around here! Also I was hoping to take the blog into a different direction. More cooking, recipes and photos, but my camera has been giving me trouble and my cooking pictures look very ..well.. amateur..
Also I’ve been very busy with being co-ordinator for Gracie’s Room, and I need to make a post about that, and about an upcoming trip to China in February, but I’m not very good with words.. Want to help???

Levi is going to a make an incredible hubby one day. I guess that’s what you get when you grow up with two sisters. :O) Glad to hear they loved and appreciated their rooms and OUCH! Poor Levi!! Ya could’ve given me a little warning though. I was biting into my morning bagel when I scrolled down to that photo! My stomach lurched! Poor, poor baby!! but at least he got a popsicle outta the deal.
